FIRE RESCUE GOLD SHIELD — WHAT STANDS BETWEEN

A shield is the oldest promise in the world: something solid placed between danger and the people behind it. On this design the shield is gold, and that is not decoration. Gold is the standard — the level you are held to when a stranger's worst night becomes your working conditions.

That is what this design stands for: the interposed life. Fire rescue is the discipline of standing in the doorway — between the fire and the family, between the wreck and the driver, between the floodwater and the porch. The shield does not attack. It holds. It takes the heat, the impact, the pressure, and it does not move, because everything it loves is standing behind it.

Courage and honor are written on this shield, and they belong in that order. Courage gets you through the door. Honor is what keeps you there when coming back out would be easier, and what brings you back the next night to stand in the same place again.

Wear it for the ones who stand between. Wear it because a shield is only as good as the person willing to be one.
