Poker is easily the world’s most popular card game, played across the planet by all kinds of people. The card game has seen a massive rise in popularity over the past fifteen years with the increase of online poker players, but it actually goes way back into World History and seems to be a mixed pot of the best features from a range of old cards games. Its story stretched across the centuries and played a significant role in iconic moments of history such as the colonization of America, the Old West, and World War II. It’s thought to have been partly introduced through stud poker (a version still played today, although less popular than Texas Hold’em and Omaha). This version of poker became incredibly popular among the river boaters traveling up and down the Mississippi River, which quickly spread around the rest of America.
