Want to know more about the awesome USAF crest, emblem and seal? The design was first proposed in 1947, the same year of the Air Force’s founding and it originally featured a Wright Brothers' airplane. The designer, Arthur E. DuBois later changed it to feature the eagle and Jupiter or Zeus’s (the king of the Greek and Roman Gods) bolts of lightning. The main colors of the seal are blue and gold, and were the colors of the original US Air Corps.. The American Bald Eagle is a traditional symbol of the US (mainly as it’s only found on our shores) but here, it also means complete and total superiority of the skies, a claim USAF can still make today.
