The US Armed Forces are the world’s most highly trained fighting force, ready to respond at a moment’s notice to natural or human-made disasters anywhere in America or the world. Yet many people’s knowledge about our military is limited to what they’ve learnt from movies, books, and news reports. Few people outside the military understand the culture, the values, or the people who make up the most powerful military force on earth. Did you know that our armed forces are older than America? The Continental Army, officially established and led by George Washington in 1775, lead the US to victory over the British in the Revolutionary War allowing the establishment of the United States of America in 1776. Since then, the US Military has expanded to include five armed service branches- the Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, and Navy (and as of 2019, Space Force). On November 11, or Veteran's Day, we recognize and celebrate America's Veterans for their service to their country. This day was chosen to recognize Armistice Day (the end of World War I) which occurred, strangely, on the 11th month on the 11th day at the 11th hour. But we think we should honor America’s fighting forces not just on Veterans Day but every day of the damn year. Our military heroes defend and protect our nation 365 days, so the least we can do is thank them for their service and remember their sacrifices. It’s why we started making Military stoneware, to celebrate and commemorate these awesome defenders of our nation and This We’ll Defend.
